Was Hitler a Christian? (discussion) (For short comments and opinions)
It is important to be able to identify the difference between Hitler's public speeches and writing and what he really thought. A devious politician leading a nominally Christian country like 1930s Germany will say lots of Christian-sounding stuff to maintain popularity. Mein Kampf illustrates Hitler's views on propaganda:
(Main Kampf, Vol 1, Ch 6 and Ch 12)—"To whom should propaganda be addressed? … It must be addressed always and exclusively to the masses… The function of propaganda does not lie in the scientific training of the individual, but in calling the masses' attention to certain facts, processes, necessities, etc., whose significance is thus for the first time placed within their field of vision. The whole art consists in doing this so skilfully that everyone will be convinced that the fact is real, the process necessary, the necessity correct, etc. But since propaganda is not and cannot be the necessity in itself … its effect for the most part must be aimed at the emotions and only to a very limited degree at the so-called intellect… it's soundness is to be measured exclusively by its effective result".
Hitler may have publicly claimed to be doing “Gods will” and this is something that the rabid anti-Christian propagandists love to seize upon, but unfortunately for them, records of his private conversations prove otherwise. Many of these candid conversations were recorded by none other than his secretary and were later compiled and published in a book titled Hitler's Table Talk (Adolf Hitler, London, Weidenfeld & Nicholson, 1953).
It is a sad fact, that a lie often repeated becomes the "truth", as can be witnessed by the many Christians and non-Christians alike who have been fooled into believing Hitler were a Christian and accept this assertion without question. This results in Christians issuing a weak defence where a defence is not needed, "He was not a good Christian" is the usual Christian response, and for obvious reasons this only leads to mockery by the anti-Christians.
What follows, will leave you in no doubt as to his true thoughts on Christianity. The “no true Scotsman” fallacy is not required.
Quotes establishing Hitlers hatred for Christianity
Night of 11th/12th July, 1941 (p 6 & 7):
Adolf Hitler—"National Socialism and religion cannot exist together”
Adolf Hitler—"The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity's illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity.”
Adolf Hitler—"Let it not be said that Christianity brought man the life of the soul, for that evolution was in the natural order of things."
10th October, 1941, midday (p 43):
Adolf Hitler—"Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature. Taken to its logical extreme, Christianity would mean the systematic cultivation of the human failure."
14th October, 1941, midday (p 49-52):
Adolf Hitler—"The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death.... When understanding of the universe has become widespread... Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity”
Adolf Hitler—"Christianity has reached the peak of absurdity.... And that's why someday its structure will collapse.”
Adolf Hitler—".the only way to get rid of Christianity is to allow it to die little by little.”
Adolf Hitler—"Christianity <is> the liar”
Adolf Hitler—"We'll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State."
19th October, 1941, night:
Adolf Hitler—"The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity."
21st October, 1941, midday (p 63-65):
Adolf Hitler—"Originally, Christianity was merely an incarnation of Bolshevism, the destroyer”
Adolf Hitler—"The decisive falsification of Jesus' <who he asserts many times was never a Jew> doctrine was the work of St.Paul. He gave himself to this work... for the purposes of personal exploitation”
Adolf Hitler—"Didn't the world see, carried on right into the Middle Ages, the same old system of martyrs, tortures, *******? Of old, it was in the name of Christianity. Today, it's in the name of Bolshevism. Yesterday the instigator was Saul: the instigator today, Mardochai. Saul was changed into St.Paul, and Mardochai into Karl Marx. By exterminating this pest, we shall do humanity a service of which our soldiers can have no idea."
13th December, 1941, midnight (p 118-119):
Adolf Hitler—"Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery.... <here insults people who believe transubstantiation>....”
Adolf Hitler—"When all is said, we have no reason to wish that the Italians and Spaniards should free themselves from the drug of Christianity. Let's be the only people who are immunised against the disease."
14th December, 1941, midday (p 119 & 120):
Adolf Hitler—"Kerrl, with noblest of intentions, wanted to attempt a synthesis between National Socialism and Christianity. I don't believe the thing's possible, and I see the obstacle in Christianity itself“
Adolf Hitler—"Pure Christianity-- the Christianity of the catacombs-- is concerned with translating Christian doctrine into facts. It leads quite simply to the annihilation of mankind. It is merely whole-hearted Bolshevism, under a tinsel of metaphysics."
9th April, 1942, dinner (p 339):
Adolf Hitler—"There is something very unhealthy about Christianity."
27th February, 1942, midday (p 278):
Adolf Hitler—"It would always be disagreeable for me to go down to posterity as a man who made concessions in this field. I realize that man, in his imperfection, can commit innumerable errors-- but to devote myself deliberately to errors, that is something I cannot do. I shall never come personally to terms with the Christian lie."
Adolf Hitler—"Our epoch in the next 200 years will certainly see the end of the disease of Christianity.... My regret will have been that I couldn't... behold <its demise>."
Quotes establishing Hitlers preference for Islam
August 28, 1942, midday:
Adolf Hitler—"Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers -already, you see, the world had already fallen into the hands of the Jews, so gutless a thing Christianity! -then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism (Islam), that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so."
Adolf Hitler—"You see, it's been our misfortune to have the wrong religion...The Mohammedan religion (Islam) too would have been more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?"
Adolf Hitler—"Had the Arabs won the battle, the world would be Mohammedan (Islamic) today. For theirs was a religion that believed in spreading the faith by the sword and subjugating all nations to that faith. The Germanic peoples would have become heirs to that religion. Such a creed was perfectly suited to the Germanic temperament."
Hitlers Muslim Ally and Christian Enemy
Many people may not be aware that Hitler happened to have a Muslim ally: The mufti of Jerusalem. Due to the ideological similarities between Islam and Nazism, they shared many interests and goals. Haj Amin al-Husseini worked with Hitler to kill all the Jews in Jerusalem. He also provided Muslim-Nazi units, e.g. the Hanjar was the 13th Waffen SS division. Also, Contrary to popular "belief" the Pope was not an Ally to the Nazis. The Catholic Church under Pius XII was instrumental in saving 860,000 Jews from Nazi death camps.
Mein Kampf - My Jihad
It is of interest to note that Mein Kampf, written by Adolf Hitler, is a best-seller in the Arab and Muslim World including; Egypt, Palestine, "moderate" Turkey, and is also selling well in London areas with a large Arab population. It is often sold along-side religious literature and strangely enough, Mein Kampf can be translated as "My Jihad" in Arabic. Other anti-Semitic literature like Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a 19th-century anti-Semitic tract are also hugely popular. Mein Kampf is selling as well as Dan Brown's latest novel in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where sales soar towards Eid, as it is bought by many as gifts.
Regardless of what has been presented here, the anti-Christians will no-doubt continue to claim Hitler was a Christian, and continue to cite quote after quote affirming his "faith in God", but what Hitler spoke of in public is inconsequential. They can continue doing so until they're blue in the face, but it proves nothing.
let me explain why: Say, for example, a Hindu living in Kashmir holds to the pretence of being a Muslim to appease his family and avoid the death sentence requiered by Islam for Apostates, there is no way of knowing that his profession of faith in Islam is false. However, if he were to be caught privately referring to Islam as being “absurd” “a lie” and the “Invention of sick brains” and even comparing it to the Pox (as DID Hitler to Christianity), I think it is safe to say that the individual in question is not a Muslim, or in our case, a Christian.
