Universal Protectionism
Religion-wiki — for all religions and none
Universal Protectionism, is a religion that has been made from the Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command animated sagas. While this religion is novel in nature followers of Universal Protectionism insist that they are sincere enough in their beliefs such that they are entitled to the same legal rights and protections as other religions.
While seemingly juvenile the Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command series deal with significant metaphysical and spiritual ideas which when taken together as a whole provide a significant philosophical foundation for Universal Protectionism.
In many aspects Universal Protectionism is related to the religion of Sikhism. Superficially this can be seen in the similarity between the Star Command logo and the Sikh religious symbol called the Khanda. Both of these symbols are composed of four parts that have the same general shape and symmetry. Notably the circular part of both emblems have similar symbolic meaning. In the Sikh religion the circular quoit symbolizes the unity of God while the ringed planet of the Star Command logo looks exactly like the Unimind that was worshiped by the LGM in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.
On a more practical level, in keeping with their mission as protectors of the Universe, like Sikhs, adherents of Universal Protectionism are required to carry a knife on their person at all times. However while a Sikh is required to carry a dagger, an adherent of Universal Protectionism is specifically required to carry a Swiss Army knife.
Followers of Universal Protectionism are known as Space Rangers and together they form the congregation called the Universe Protection Unit. In order to communicate with the Universe Protection Unit and to be in closer contact with Star Command Space Rangers are required to carry an electronic communicator and recording device (i.e. cell phone) on their person at all times.
While there are many aspects and finer points to its philosophy and practice one of the main perspectives of Universal Protectionism is that even though every follower of the religion is a protector of the universe he or she should not take his or her status as a Space Ranger too far. While the Universe is indeed large the sector of a Space Ranger's jurisdiction is limited.
Still in some form a follower of the religion of Universal Protectionism is positive in their belief that:
As a member of the elite Universe Protection Unit of the Space Ranger Corps, he or she protects the galaxy from the threat of invasion from the Evil Emperor Zurg, sworn enemy of the Galactic Alliance.
