In Christianity, God is made up of three different persons, while still being only one God. Those persons are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The reason why this is so confusing to people and especially those of other religions, is that they can't grasp the complexity of three people in one person. Christians feel that the only logical interpretation of both the old and new testaments leads to the monotheistic worship of this God. The God consisting of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit can never be said to be polytheistic. That would be heresy.
