The Experience Machine is a thought experiment presented by Robert Nozick as an argument against Utilitarianism. The experience machine is used by "super-neuroscientists" to simulate a world for us in which all wishes and desires would be satisifed. We will be plugged into the machine for the rest of our lives, but will forget the real world and forget that we are plugged into a machine. Nozick argued that many people would refuse to be plugged in, because, contrary to the utilitarianism, they value truth, reality and the ability to actually do things rather than just experience doing them more than they value pleasure.
