Somniumist Deities
Religion-wiki — for all religions and none
Somniumism, a modern polytheistic religion, has some 64 officially recognised Gods that are not found in any other religious path (though they have their counterparts like all polytheistic deities). All though most other polytheistic religions limit followers to their existing Gods, Somniumists are permitted to "create" their own unofficial deities that reflect specific elements of the Divine Dreamer that they wish to worship - Somniumists believe this is a valid practice because the Gods are so numerous we could never hope to truly know all of them throughout the universes and, if a God is born of Human imagination (a form of dream), they must exist in some form. Sometimes, the Sacred Order will approve new Gods to the Minor Deities group.
The Gods of Somniumism are divided into five sub-pantheons: the Divine Three, the Holy Four, the Sacred Seven, the Significant Twelve and the Lesser Thirty-Eight. The larger the individual pantheon, the less important it is overall.
This article documents all Gods recognised by the Sacred Order of Somniumists to date. Due to the vast major of the pantheon, profiles have only been completed for the 26 major Gods. It should be noted that the Mythology of the Gods is not totally in line with Somniumist teaching - it confines itself largely to this world. All the Gods are, for example, children of Etimo - even though Somniumists believe that each deity is an individual spirit who has ascended to Godhood thus meaning Etimo cannot feasibly be mother to them all. The mythology surrounding the Gods is created to infuse them with belief and mystical power - it is a form of reverence. The stories here are basic and do not go into the same depth as the Book of Divine Dreams.
