In atheism, a pseudo-atheist is one who believes that they do not believe in God whereas in reality, they do in fact unconsciously believe in God. This is because the God whose existence they deny is not God but rather a ens rationis; a nonexistent entity which they have labeled as God, but which is not God.

A pseudo-atheist denies God because he confuses God with this "entity" which seems to either to be impossible of existence or to entail revolting consequences with regard to nature or humanity.[1]
