Pope Benedict XII

The papal cocnlave, 1334 elected Jacopo del Forno as Pope Benedict XII to succeed Pope John XXII.

Balloting[]

An early favorite among the papabile was John de Comminges, whom enough cardinals agreed to support, on the condition that he did not return the papacy to Rome, an offer the cardinal refused.[1]

Jacopo del Forno, a Carmelite monk, was ultimately elected.[1]
