Paanchi is a character from the Book of Mormon who fought against his brothers Pahoran and Pacumeni for the judgment seat vacated by their father Pahoran upon his death in the 40th year of the reign of judges. The judgment seat was eventually given to Pahoran by the voice of the people. Pacumeni followed the voice of the people and supported his brother, while Paanchi began a rebellion against Pahoran. Paanchi was quickly caught, tried by the voice of the people, and condemned to death. His followers assassinated Pahoran and shortly thereafter created a secret group that eventually led to the formation of the Gadianton robbers.
