Richards

  • See also 1st Missionary Journey of Samuel Smith - story of the conversion of the Kimball /Young / Richards family to the early LDS Church in late 1830.
  • Note: The Richards Family has contributed almost as many General Authorities to the leadership of the LDS Church as any other early pioneer family, including 5 apostles.
  • Willard Richards (1804-1854) - Early LDS Apostle, missionary and pioneer. Surviving eyewitness to the Carthage Jail massacre.
  • Franklin D Richards (1821-1899) - Early LDS Apostle, missionary and first president of the Utah Genealogical Society.
  • Stephen L Richards - lawyer, law professor and LDS Apostle and member of LDS First Presidency.

Richey

  • Benjamin Richey (1823-1849) - Veteran of the Mormon Battalion and Sutter's Mill, was waylaid in an ambush for his gold.
  • James Richey - Mormon convert and missionary from Mississippi and pioneer to the west, he played a key role in the establishment of pioneer settlements in Southern Utah and running the church's cotton mission.

Romney

  • George W Romney (1907-1995) - President of American Motors Company and 1968 Candidate for U.S. President, Governor of Michigan.
  • Marion G Romney (1897-1988) - Born in Mormon Colonies in Mexico to Mormon parents. One of the first five individuals selected as Assistants to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1941. Later LDS Apostle and member of First Presidency. Cousin to US Presidential Candidtate, George W Romney.
  • Mitt Romney (1947) - Governor of Massachusetts, 2004 and 2008 Candidate for U.S. President.
  • Miles Romney (1806-1877) - English convert to the church, early Utah pioneer.
