Blessed Marie-Alphonsine Danil Ghattas (October 4, 1843—March 25, 1927) was a Palestinian nun who was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009. She was inspired by the Virgin Mary to cofound the Congregation of the Rosary Sisters, the only Arab religious order in the Holy Land to date.[1] The rite of beatifiication undertaken by Archbishop Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, at a Mass celebrated by Patriarch Fouad Twal, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, on 22 November 2009 at the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth.[2]
