Pre-Lent is not really a season of the liturgical year, but the in-between time from the Presentation of Christ in the Temple to Ash Wednesday. Some church calendars consider this period to be a part of Epiphanytide, while others consider it to be Ordinary Time. The liturgical colour is green: the ordinary colour. Sometimes referred to as Shrovetide, this season prepares for Lent.
Traditionally, the countdown to Lent has been held in Latin: Septuagesima, Sexagesima, Quinquagesima for the three Sundays before Lent.
