The Kiryat Menachem bus bombing was the suicide bombing of a public bus in the neighborhood of Kiryat Menachem in Jerusalem on November 21, 2002.[1] A Hamas suicide bomber blew himself on a crowded bus in a Jerusalem suburb, killing 11 people and wounding over 50. [2]Hamas took credit for the attack, which was carried out by Na'el Abu Hilayel, 22, from el-Khader, just south of Bethlehem.[2]Four of the victims were children on their way to school.[2]

The bomber, who wore a five-kilogram bomb belt packed with explosives and shrapnel, boarded the bus at 7:00 A.M. on Mexico Street, and set off the bomb before the bus reached the next stop. [3]
