Kempon Hokke-shu (顕本法華宗) is a sect of Nichiren Buddhism which traces its lineage back to 14th century priest Nichiju. In Japan, it has a membership of about 100,000 households. It is notable for having a branch in the United States which competes with Soka Gakkai. Many disaffected SGI members joined Kempon Hokke in the 1990s.
