Jumada al-Ula (جمادى الأولى) is the fifth month of the Islamic calendar. Traditionally, it begins with the sighting of the fifth crescent moon of the Islamic year, and is ends with next sighting. It and the sixth month are both called Jumada, and so this month is sometimes called Jumada I.

As the Islamic calendar is completely lunar, its dates move freely through the Gregorian calendar over time. In 2005, the month runs from 8 June to 7 July.
