Religion-wiki — for all religions and none
Joseph Smith Junior was the leader and founder of the Church from which the Latter Day Saint Movement began. Born in Palmyra, New York, to Lucy Mack and Joseph Smith Sr. In the spring of 1820, Smith entered a grove to seek wisdom from his Heavenly Father whereupon, he claims that a vision of the Father and his Son (Christ) appeared to him, directing him not to join any religion, but to restore the Church of Christ that had been lost during the Apostasy.
Today, several churches claim him to be the establisher of their faith, the most prominent, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints headquartered in Utah. Other groups that have descended from him include the Community of Christ, The Church of Christ (Strangite), and varous other splinter groups.
