In the battles of Mchraj in December 1634, JatI Mall was wounded in the clicst by an arrowshot, but made a quick recovery. He died at Kartarpur in 1642. His son, Daya Ram, remained in the service of the Gurus and fought valiantly in the battle of Bharigam in 1688.
