Elias of Cortona[1] was the second Minister General of the Friars Minor (Franciscans). He is said to have been born at Bevilia near Assisi, circa 1180 and died at Cortona on 22 April 1253.

Attribution to him of some alchemical manuscripts[2] is often questioned.
