Dugpas (also called members of The Drukpa Church of Bhutan, or the Red Cap sect) are a group of mainly Eastern Tibetan monks, or sorcerers, focusing principally on the left-hand path traditions and various Tantric practices of Buddhism. They became active in the fourteenth century, and were considered hedonists by many.[1]

The Dugpas are a subsect of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism and were responsible for development of monasteries in the Lahul area of Himachal Pradesh, India.[2]

In addition to the order found in Bhutan, there are solo practitioners of some form of the Dugpa tradition within North America.

The name Dugpa was also used on the television show Twin Peaks to refer to a group of black magicians connected to the Black Lodge.
