The Democratic Republic of the Congo (French: République démocratique du Congo) is a country located in Central Africa, with a small length of Atlantic coastline. It is the third largest country (by area) in Africa. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is, with a UN estimated population of 66,020,000, the nineteenth most populous nation in the world, and the fourth most populous nation in Africa, as well as the most populous country where French is an official language.
Religion in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Christianity is the religion of 90% of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 55% of the people are Roman Catholics and 35% are Protestants. Islam is the faith of 5% of th epeople and traditional African beliefs are followed by 2.4% of the population. There are many sects which merge aspects of Christianity with indigenous African faiths. Less than 0.1% of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo are Buddhists.
