Chaplain is a term used to refer to an individual, either lay or ordained, who has a ministry in a non-parish setting. Chaplains may serve in hospitals, schools, government organizations (such as the military or VA hospitals), and corporations. In Episcoplaian Church of the USA (ECUSA) there is a Bishop Suffragan for Chaplaincies, The Right Rev. George Packard. That office oversees those in chaplain ministries and, in the case of a chaplain candidate or chaplain in the Armed forces, is also the endorser for ECUSA.
