Religion in California
While predominantly Christian, California has seen a large influx of other religious group from other cultures that have recently migrated to the Golden State.
California is also home to several off-the-wall and controversial religious groups.
Christianity in California
The LDS Church (Mormons) have seven temples and over 100 stakes in California.
- On 07-Oct-2018, The church announced that an 8th temple will be built at Yuba City, California. 
Same-Sex Marriage Amendment
In 2000, Californias overwhelmingly passed Proposition 22 which defined marriage as between a man and a woman. This was subsequently overturned by the state Supreme Court. In 2008, many California churches are actively compaigning for Proposition 8, an amendment to the state constitution.
