Bigtan was a member of the Persian court.
The Persian name Bigtan means "Gift of God".
Bigtan was a courtier of King Ahasuerus. Together with the courtier Teres he plotted the assassination of the king. Mordekai, the cousin of Queen Esther found out about the plot and warned the king, whereupon the two conspirators were executed. Mordekai was later rewarded.
