Abida Al-Lat
Religion-wiki — for all religions and none
Basic beliefs-The Universe was created by the Goddess, Al-Lat, the Supreme Mother. She has no set consort and is ever-producing. Her first consort was Malik, now king of the demons.
Primary teaching-There is but one deity in the Universe and that is Al-Lat. She has many incarnations. People who worship Her know of Her incarnations but don't honor them the same way as Al-Lat.
Holidays-There are many holidays, most pertaining to either the angels of Al-Lat or Her incarnations. There are five specific holidays that are the most important: Winter Solstice (birth of the sun, a symbol of Al-Lat), Candlemas (Al-Lat fully awakening from darkness and the coming spring), Summer Solstice(the Goddess takes a new consort), Autumn Equinox (Malik hunts for Al-Lat's new consort and beginning of the harvest), All Hollow's Eve (the death of the new consort, time of the thinnest veil).
Rituals-Much of the practice is similar to the Witchcraft and Wicca. Spell casting is a major part of the rituals. Meditation and prayer is also important.
Views of the Afterlife-Abidas believe in reincarnation. The Goddess can take the form of any goddess. Because of this we believe in incarnation. There is even our version of Summerland where all spirits go. It is called Cantara, or Bridge between Worlds. One can go through many incarnations before reaching the ultimate goal of Abida Al-Lat. This goal is called Alya, or Heaven. This is where we go when our spirits are sinless and we join the Goddess for all eternity. However, there is a Hell, Badiyah. Badiyah is the cold desert where sinful souls must travel through before confessing to the Goddess.
Goddesses-There are thousands and thousands of goddess. But Abidas honor those goddess from the Middle East where it is closet to the origin of the Goddess Al-Lat.
Sacred Places: Nile River, Sahara Desert, Philae, the Red Sea, Arabian desert
Laws/Commandments/Pillars-There are 13 Commandments of the Goddess to represent the 13 full moons. There are 10 laws to signify the 10 Aspects of the Goddess. There are 5 pillar for each major holiday. To summarize it: you can't eat meat (fish and sea food included), you can't harm another being in any way, pray, meditate, don't sacrifice anything but your heart to the Goddess, NEVER DRAW BLOOD ON PURPOSE, protection others first, don't do drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, use violence as a last resort, wear black to symbolize your devotion to the Goddess for black is the color of humility, don't commit any of the Five Sins, and finally, know that all acts of pleasure are part of the Goddess' rituals.
The Five Sins -Gluttony -Greed -Dishonesty -Wrath -Disloyalty
Abida Al-Lat is a feminist religion. It is matriarchal. Women are dominant here. Men can't become high priests. Women are the only ones who can further their career in this religion.
