  • General Assembly of the Church of Scotland creates the Church and Nation Committee.
  • January 18: Paris Peace conference opens, ending World War I. Due to resentment over Pope Benedict XV's Papal Peace Proposal (August 1917), the Vatican is excluded from the conference.
